About Empower Broward

Investing in economic empowerment sets a direct path to the eradication of poverty and leads to inclusive economic growth. With the support of SunTrust Foundation, the Alliance Foundation created a new program aimed to assist small businesses in some of Broward County’s most economically challenged zip codes. 

Empower Broward is providing companies who are nominated by our program partners within identified economically-challenged areas, access to business insights, industry specific best practices, and introductions to critical business services with a localized “Economic Gardening” approach. By assisting small businesses within these areas, we can see them achieve their full potential, helping Broward County grow and provide jobs to its residents.  There is no charge for this service.

This small business assistance program provides small business owners with a “coach” who audits the business, identifies immediate areas of improvement, organizes a team of consultants to meet with the owner bi-weekly to strategize and put a plan of action together, determines which services would best help the business accomplish their goals and take their business to the next level. The small business coach then refers the business to Alliance member volunteers who help them with specific needs in areas such as accounting, legal, and marketing services and helps the business owner execute those action items.
